Director's Cut: Hardest to Survive part 7.

Hello again, to my seventh Director's Cut for Hardest to Survive. My last news on this was on my update video in March. Time has certainly flew, and we're now near the end of April. This year, the short film will continue where it left off with the test shoots. I can't say too much, but I can say that I'm gathering a lot of new team players in the fold. I am looking for a new fresh start and to learn from the past and so far it is looking promising. Sometime in May, I am scheduled to have a meeting with a media studio called Nuttylenz. In partnership with Nuttylenz, LD Studios and Frontier plan a host of ideas involving the look of the film and how we plan to play out in the long run. I am close to finalising the budget and after test shoots, we should hopefully start production in July 2012.

Until then I will let you know what's going on,

Take Care,

Killer Heels latest News.

What's up, fans? Just here to let you know about the shenanigans with Killer Heels. I am told the short film will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Again, I'm being tight lipped about that, but I'm saying that I'm proud of how it is looking up. I can't wait to see the finished product and I am confident from the way it is written that it should be brilliant. Although, what is on the blueprint, does not mean its going to be up to scratch in the actual big screen. There are many factors even the average moviegoer can point out. At some point, I will post up some tutorials about how to create your own comic book and graphic novel? This will likely be after I post up the Documentary: Independent Artists sometime in May.

Interlude VI.

I'm back just to inform everyone Killer Heels the short film has been wrapped up last week and has just hit post-production, I can't mention any story details as yet but it will be shown within film festivals very soon and it has been written by screenwriter Norina Mackey and directed by Courtney Starr. I spoke to Matthew about the development on his spy-drama series and he is about to send me more details soon. There are no mention of any casting, but I will give you more on that later. Last time I mentioned Nemesis the Hunter's Mark being coloured and it's progressing but expect print to come immediately after the final lettering by Rommel Fabian who is being assisted by Shawn Milazzo, the graphic artist, who is taking over completely in the prequel graphic novel. I recorded a demo of "My Sweetness", a singer, Candice will be going over it through vocals and I will be recording more tracks on my mix-tape and EP, I'm waiting for more tracks that will be produced. Look out for more reviews by Kbon, he finished doing reviews for The Darkest Hour film and Take Care by Drake. He will be doing more reviews for some mix-tapes for Graveyard Grind by IGniite and Still Life by Kieron Boothe.

So until next time,

Director's Cut: Hardest to Survive part 6.

This is now my sixth entry of my Director's Cut post for Hardest to Survive, I would like to say that all hope is not lost. Admittedly, this project has been through a lot, so it is safe by saying I will most likely be raising some of the money funding myself but I will not be alone. I have in fact pitched this short film to Live Ultd and I am discussing this situation with them, serious re-casting will have to be made but not a lot. Most of my actors are now busy including myself so I'm taking a backwards step as I'm mostly caught up with both my recording for music for my Mix-tape "Breakin' Da Rules" and EP "Rule's Broken" plus my comic book project and education is on my top priority list. Including being an Script Editor and Executive Producer for Matt's upcoming spy-drama online series. Not to worry though, I can multitask, which is not a problem as evident with finishing the storyboards for the Killer Heels film I am involved in which should be ready to film pretty soon.

It's just at this moment in time, it is a bit stuck but will not stay on the pedestal for long, battling with investors to bring about good films is tough. I feel highly underminded due to my young age but I'm going to give the "grown ups" a run for their money. The problem is, which I had with Artefacts Edutainment and most of these organizations is they don't want to see many young people like myself do commercial films that do not help the community and they are "stingy" with their money because they don't believe it's going to show much of an impact to others. They want us to do films that show more of a social endeavour for people and because mine is more "in-between", an entertaining short film with a message behind it this is regarded as not eligible. Truth is they are not willing to take risks, period. I refuse to make films with any enterprise that only fits their perspective of what my film is about then remove the essence out of it, which makes it "shocking", end of.

I will keep you in the loop,

Director's Cut: Hardest to Survive part 5.

Everyone, welcome back to my blog. I am here to discuss what is going on with the short film, Hardest to Survive. Well, I'm afraid the long awaiting film will have to take a back seat for a while longer as plans shall move forward to be released sometime next year in 2012. The reason is due to unforeseen technical difficulties which have delayed production this Autumn and pre-production not yet accomplished. Test shoots were supposed to be completed a while ago from this Summer but it was not possible, my plans are to complete them by the end of this year and start production from February to March 2012 for a Spring release. I have discussed my overall plans with the rest of the team from Ezee Media and they are in agreement to go ahead with this decision. I hosted a meeting last week with all the actors about this to sort out the problem and I am looking to share all of their comments around to tackle this situation.

Although, this is unfortunate, do not worry I am getting more assistance from other studios and investors willing to donate and finance this project. I seek to change people's minds about problems we face in the climate now such as distress, peer pressure and more stuff affecting young people today. The good news is Jstaarz's project The New Kid is ready to start filming this week so at least you have some kind of treat for many to look out for. Also, I got news from a friend of Rommel's who is lettering my comic book series and he has had trouble of his own which has slightly impacted my progress on Nemesis the Hunter's Mark. He experienced some technical glitches as well, I am getting in contact with him as soon as possible in order to get things in motion. However, the animated trailer based on this is going smoothly. I will come back with a small brief on who is playing Henry's mother.

I'll be right back,

Director's Cut: Hardest to Survive part 4.

Welcome back everyone, as you read this post it would probably be dated before its time but I am reporting updated news from 04/06/11. Yesterday, I spoke with Michelle from a workshop and I have been told about applying for something. I should be on my way to starting the whole film very soon, just got to make a few calls. Principal photography should begin July, I am going to make a couple more test shoots in the next two weeks from now. Check out Hardest to Survive on the Facebook for more information on Pages. I will send pictures of stills from behind the scenes. I have begun to start a Production Schedule and I plan to film the whole 30 minutes in late July. I am still making a lot of preparations before I do that shoot and it should be up and running pretty soon.

Director's Cut: Hardest to Survive part 3

Everyone, I'm glad you all came back to present to you more news about Hardest to Survive, but first I got some bad news and good news. I will first give you the bad one. Okay, the bad news is that two clips I was supposed to shoot on the 12th and 13th March this year was cancelled due to complications with the actors, time constraints and sechedule. One of the actors in the shoot had an emergency and had to leave quietly off set to sort the problem out, which is at the hospital. I just hope the person there is okay, the other problem is due to lost footage of one clip that is long overdue which is Artefacts Edutainment's fault who lost it during edits, which is the reason I totally cut ties with them. This means I had to support footage, which they have lost by doing at least two days of shooting back to back in two scenes at various locations. If things can't get any worse, the actor who is playing Nate (Richard O'keffe) has got a busy schedule due to exams but I am in talks with him this weekend so that I can make a final decisison on his stay.

The good news, I'm having a meeting with a business advisor this Friday 1st April and I will sign papers for applications for First Light Young Filmmakers among other documents to secure budgeting of the film. I am already in negotiatians with a Director friend Enrico Tessarin about providing me with a Producer. If this goes right, I should be able to start Principal Photography in April/May. I need to sort out a Production Schedule and what the budget is going towards and I have slowly grasped different extras who should be around for this film. I got a casting director searching for a potential actor who can play one of Malachi's henchmen who plays a key part in the film and he is searching for people that can play basketball players seen at the very start of the movie. So, the film is still moving steadily, I did not get to shoot at the specific time I wanted to shoot but I am sure I can get it sorted either way. Make sure you support Hardest to Survive on the Facebook pages with this link it is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hardest-to-Survive-Short-Film, and the clips that I have done so far, the first one and the extended clip are both still available on my account http://http//www.youtube.com/user/89kbon.

Follow me on my blog, over this page for those of you who have come to this site for the first time, for twitter its http://www.twitter.com/lildre_cains and I have more news in store for you about the comic later on this week. The website will be released in the afternoon on Thursday 31st March 2011 so make sure you have a look at that. Otherwise check out the story of Nemesis the Hunter's Mark and the pages that have been pencilled by Julio Falkenhagen and inked by myself. The 5 preview pages lettered by Rommel Fabian and coloured by Kieron Boothe, although busy as he is, will be coming soon. You can view all of these pages on this link http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nemesis-the-Hunters-Mark-Comic.

Take care for now,

Director's Cut: Hardest to Survive.

I had a meeting with a veteran film director, Enrico Tessarin, on Tuesday and he gave me some good advice on production for the upcoming crime thriller, Hardest to Survive. Mathu Ezee is going to send me clips by the end of this week. I was not able to shoot last Saturday as the DP was shooting a music video last week and is doing one of a feature film this week. I should be able to do one next week, but at the moment, I am focusing on editing the last clip I did before I do anything else and obviously I have to make sure that the actors will be available on that day of filming. I will upload pictures from the shoot on Facebook group page and Hardest to Survive is now on Twitter. Follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/lildre_cains. I will let you know when the next shooting takes place.

More news coming next week,

Nemesis Dawn of a Legend e-book

Welcome back, it's been a busy start of the new year in January and I am here to keep you posted on what is going on with both projects within the next few weeks. Rommel Fabian (letterer) for the upcoming seven issue comic book series, Nemesis the Hunter's Mark, just confirmed he will be a guest artist for the prequel Nemesis Dawn of a Legend alongside myself and Shawn Milazzo who replaces Fabian in lettering duties. The colourist for this book has not been confirmed yet, but I will be quite busy sending Fabian designs for that after I finish with this series. I aim to have a Summer-Autumn 2011 release of the e-book later on this year. I will be handed the pencils from Julio Falkenhagen soon for this real soon. I hope to get back to you with the covers by next week. Also, I had an interview with Ota Otakiju about it, the article will be posted here.

In other news, I just finished shooting an extended clip of The Hardest to Survive today, photographs of behind the scenes will be on my Facebook group page. I plan to re-shoot clip 2 and possibly film clip 3 on 29th January 2011. I apologise for the lateness but that was due to Artefacts Edutainment shutting us out the way they did. I sorting out a meeting with Director Enrico Tessarin from New Treatment to lend a hand with the distribution and handling production of the actual footage. Hopefully I can sort this out in time so that Principal Photography should begin sometime in February. I have yet to receive any more updates on what is happening with the Artefacts organization, but we are definitely moving our studio, Ezee Media and Lil Dre studios, away from Artefacts over to another studio elsewhere.

Take care everyone,

Episode Fourteen: End of the Line.

Everyone, this is the last issue of Nemesis Dawn of a Legend. Previously in Nemesis, Henry Jackson has found himself in a tight situation with Tucker, known as the gangster "T.K", tied him in a chair and was left helpless with Henry unable to access his powers. Tucker revealed to his prisoner two years ago in Boston, Massachusetts in a secret training facility and headquarters of The Commission when Henry was on the hunt for the assassins who attempted to kill his uncle, Phillip Jackson; Tucker's gang Cashmere had been outnumbered by entire Secret Service agents and killed off. Henry confronted the mastermind, Mr. Braddock, as the Shadow Man but was knocked unconscious by gas. Tucker felt betrayed as Cashmere was alone to deal with the attack, thus he stole information on Project Atlas via flash drive (a secret formula on synthetic skin) and used data about Henry against him. In an effort to stop Tucker, Henry transformed into his Shadow Man persona and used the smallest fraction of his power to cause an gas explosion: their current status is unknown.

The final issue of Nemesis Dawn of a Legend in the last part of The Dual Line saga ends this series here, the link to the script for issue 14 is down below.

https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B602QQJcnSFcYTM3OGZhNzEtMWRhMS00MTVhLTkyMDItYjYzN2M3NjMwYjhi&hl=en

New cover art will be added onto this blog soon... anyway, enjoy the finale. I will be back later to discuss what you thought about it what you can expect in volume 1.

For those who maybe thinking "how could the next installment be number 1, when we just read this?" I will explain. Nemesis Dawn of a Legend is a prequel to the main story called Nemesis the Hunter's Mark. What you have read in the past 8 months is just an experience, which means you just read volume 0. This web series is still canon but set years before the events of next series, I am hoping all of these pages will be collected into a graphic novel later on in the year. You have read the scripts, but would it be nice to see what goes on inside the actual pages before your hands. Well, that's what I'm sorting out. A creative team for this is being called, Shawn Milazzo is going to letter the series with me obviously written the story, doing tight pencils and inks but I will reveal who is doing the complete pencilling and colours in a few months.

See yah,

Nemesis the Hunter's update!!!

What's up everyone,

Here are some brief updates from me, Julio Falkenhagen (designer and co-artist) is half finished with pencils for issue 1 of the upcoming seven issue comic book series Nemesis the Hunter's Mark. It will not be long before I will be doing the inks, I can't wait. Plus I will be going over to a meeting sometime Monday to discuss about the pictures, but I promise these are really hyperactive stuff. I won't spoil too much of it, but the style relates to my art, very American comics/Japanese Manga feel to it. Released next Tuesday will be a teaser poster for issue 1, character sketches done by myself and Julio and some preview images. I will also release a synopsis for the first issue and brief summary of the overall storyline on that day. Issue 13 and 14 for Nemesis Dawn of a Legend has been handed to my editor, she is now going over the scripts. I apologise for the delay, for now I will just work on the other pictures.

Bye

Episode Thirteen: Scars that Haunt.

We have come so far, people and now Nemesis Dawn of a Legend is about to come to an end. Everyone, don't worry I have spoken to my fantastic editor, an intelligent, wonderful and very reasonable woman who has helped to edit these thrilling scripts for you. I congratulate the great Genevieve Ssentoogo for bringing me this far into the project. I am sure she agrees with me that issue 14 will be the right way to end this web series for good next week. The stakes have gone high in this chapter as Henry Jackson is in his last point in his test in order to fulfill his destiny and become the legend his father started.

Last issue, we saw Henry come back home to his flat after making sure his friends Raphael Hagen and Buena are safe. Waking up after a horrifying nightmare about the past, he discovered he received missed calls from Raphael, his uncle, Phil, plus one other message from an unknown caller. Henry stepped outside to visit his relative only to be taken down by thugs who had waited for him in their cars. He is kidnapped, drugged, beaten, lost an eye and has lost his ability to heal along with most of his powers due to being subjected to narcotics pumped directly into his bloodstream. Tucker, a former ally, revealed to be involved with this and had the gang Cashmere to bring him in his safe house. Powerless, Henry does not have any other choice but to give Tucker answers about a secret formula hidden in his memory stick.

The link to the source of the script is down below:

Episode Eleven: Tactics.

It's Christmas Eve, and I have decided to let you know what's happening this coming year in 2011. The extended clip for Hardest to Survive is on it's way, followed by clip 2, which should be posted on this blog sometime at the start of January. They are finished, and only need are going through an editing process. Filming of clip three will start in about two weeks as it has been delayed last week due to the snow. I am searching for more extras, if you are an actor/actress and believe you have the ability to become part of the next auditions in 2011 contact me through my blog or go on contacts and send an email to: andre1993farquha@yahoo.co.uk. Hardest to Survive is now on Facebook, if you are a user on that channel search for the ads and be a fan.

Finally, I will send out a gallery on the comic book miniseries, Nemesis the Hunter's Mark on January 18th after Nemesis Dawn of a Legend issue 14 is released. Dean Richards has completed work on the front cover and it looks fantastic. Julio Falkenhagen, co-artist on the book finished samples on the pages and will send me layouts for me to pencil. As for the covers for the web, I will do the rest later. I have posted the script of issue 11 right here as a treat. My computer has not been fixed yet, so until I get that sorted I can't post anymore front covers. However, the person who is supposed to do it has contacted me and said it is ready and should bring it over by tomorrow. Anyway, read the script and have a merry Christmas people.

Look out for the first issue of Nemesis the Hunter's Mark, keep posting and comment on the work I am doing. Thank you, bye.

The Next Chapter...

Okay, people. I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I am slowly working on covers for issue 8, 9 and 10 but my main computer is down which is causing problems. Due to all the snow that is going around this Winter lately, it might take some time before I can load them up. Nemesis Dawn of a Legend#11 and#12 scripts are nearly ready but they have been re-scheduled for next Friday. The bad news is that due to how my schedule, method, lateness and expectations of this monthly web comic is, the series is going to wrap up at issue 14. Don't worry, though, I've always planned to wrap it up in fourteen issues. I am sure most of you dedicated fans who have read from the beginning must of read #10 where I haven't put a cover up for yet. As you can see, Henry's character by now has got what he wanted at a price and in the last story arc of this series "The Dual Line" we see how he gets on in the aftermath of his battle. I am not gonna say my goodbye's yet, but I want to say thank you for putting the trouble to read my stuff I have up here. I am very grateful, however, this is not over.

I have already made plans to re-print all fourteen issues back to back in printed form which are written by me of course along with the detailed art handed to by Rommel Fabian with me covering the layouts and new covers and some others in my team doing chores with my book. I am not sure when these all will be re-released but it's hopefully in mid 2011 and I'm not sure in what format, whether it will be in hard cover/soft cover graphic novel, a prestige book or collected items. One treat I got for you is to look out for the new comic book, which starts a new chapter I call Nemesis the Hunter's Mark with the first edition of #1 printed sometime in Jan 2011. I already completed the scripts for this, I am working on the pencils with comic book artist from Argentina, Julio Falkenhagen, while I'll be doing inks, my bro Kieron Boothe is doing the colours and Rommel Fabian is taking on lettering duty. That's enough from me, for now.I have a synopsis for issue 11 down below and I will be putting up a flash trailer of the new series very soon. They have been story-boarded, just sorting out the program to use them with.

Nemesis Dawn of a Legend#11

The Dual Line: Part 1 of 4: Tactics.

"Two years since the battle that changed his life forever, Henry now has recently been cared for his nervous breakdown and is back at university. At 21, many of his friends and loved ones have grown older and he is quite lonesome. However, when an unknown foe that seems to come from his past returns with a message 'You lied to us, your blood will be paid in full' Henry's fate is now faced with the responsibility to bring down the mysterious T.K. before the master conspirator poses grave consequences towards the people he cares about and possibly his hometown. Meanwhile, his one time best friend turned rival, Ryan Mitchell guest stars this episode with Maria Francisco who has come back from her country in Puerto Rico, Carolina. Mitchell heads into the path of darkness after the stresses that inhabit his years are out of his control. With Henry unable to remember a fraction of his memories from the last vital points in his journey and is now the victim of multiple personalities - an entity known as The Shadow Man grows more powerful - corrupting the very nature that makes him a human. In each of us is light and dark but who is a hero or villain for good? Will Henry find the capacity to be the hunter who he is meant to be?"

Film stills for The Hardest to Survive

Fans, it's now the beginning of November and times are getting colder but that's not stopping me. In this blog I have stills of the film clip we just shot in South East London. Playing Trey is Eugene Osei and the one in the purple Adidas, Nicholas Marshall, is going to be portraying Remo. There's more to come this week as Ezee will be editing one of the clips we shot and Jstaarz is doing the first clips with me. Also coming from Lil Dre, I have the synopsis for my tenth issue of the all renowned Nemesis Dawn of a Legend coming on Guy Fawkes Night. The cover for issue 8 should be released before then and you are going to have to wait for some artwork for issue 9 and 10 I'm afraid. Apart from that, cheer up and enjoy the pictures at hand. Hopefully, clips will be out soon enough.

Left: Trey (Eugene), Middle; Remo (Nicholas), Right; Me.

A Blank Slate part 6 of 6: Pyrrhic Victory

"Close on Richie, the assassin's heels, The Shadow Man (Henry Jackson) has found the headquarters of the secret organization known as The Commission. However, Jackson is now in for a fierce, battle royal as he enlists the aid of Tucker and his gang Cashmere against Richie, partner Sanchez and the whole fraternity of Secret Service men. Within rooms, corridors and stairs of HQ lie secrets kept from public knowledge for centuries plus documents on every man, women and child who are genetic anomalies - transcends - in the United States including Jackson that are kept behind lockers. The person who holds the key to it is someone who set this whole thing in motion - his parent's death, amnesia and birthright to name a few - now is time in order to kick butt and get some answers. No... it's not as simple as that as the puppeteer is pulling every one of Henry's strings. In the final part of A Blank Slate saga, Jackson will get a chance encounter of the infamous crime lord that no police force can touch."

Episode Eight: Blood and Bullets.

Fans, this is another great issue of my web comic series. We pick up last issue in a third chapter of the "A Blank Slate" saga with "The Yin and Yang" as Henry Jackson shot down an officer but it is revealed he only left a flesh wound on the cop who chased him down. He seeks guidance in the form of Jung Kwan, a Korean-American martial artist, who knows more about Jackson than he knows about himself. After Kwan informs Jackson about the five Japanese elements and that one of Henry's superhuman powers is to control one of these elements such as air, fire, water, earth and void. The mysterious tutor consoles Jackson that in order to master his abilities he must first be in control of self. But what does the elements have to do with it? Find out this issue.

Episode Seven: The Yin and Yang.

Fans, I bring to you the issue that you have all been waiting for, my third part of "A Blank Slate" saga called "The Yin and Yang". Last issue, Henry ran away free through a bank heist by shooting a police officer who happened to be on patrol in cold blood. However, is he really dead? There is some twists and turns going on in this second arc from a couple issues back in number 5. Henry finds his father's stashed fortune and bought an apartment with some decorations added in his base of operations. Now aware of what he's capable of, Henry wears the suit his father fitted as the classy, super-powered, assassin called the Shadow Man. Though, it appears he has given in to the dark side. As the title of the episode suggests, this is his journey into enlightenment. I don't want to spoil too much but now he's getting used to his identity he is seeking a way to find out how to control himself.

Here's a sample of the script for issue 7 down below:

I will post issue 8 next week Friday 1st October and post cover art for issue 1 and 2, both have now been inked, scanned and ready for colour. I will release both of them on Wednesday together. Plus the flash animation will have to wait because I have not sent any more pictures to Jstaarz yet because I have been so busy concentrating on all three covers. I promise that once I've finished with getting those images done, he will send me a link to post on my page. The synopsis for issue 8 will be posted the same time as the first two covers are being shown. The eighth issue will be called "Blood and Bullets", which features a new supporting character who is going to be a vital idealist that is going to shape Henry's future.
