My Thoughts on Smallville #1 comic.

Those of you who don't know, Smallville was a long running TV series based on the early years before Clark Kent became Superman, created by writers and producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. It spanned 10 seasons and featured on two networks, The WB and CW, which ended with Kent having finally embraced his destiny and took flight in the iconic red and blue suit and pushed away Apokolips from Earth's orbit. News cropped up of a possible comic book in the works that continues on the hit series. It has indeed, it was released electronically last Friday 13th April on Comixology on phones such as Android and I-Tunes. The first chapter was written by Bryan Q. Miller, who also wrote the TV series, with pencils by Pere Perez.

With the 1st issue heading to print on May 2nd, I managed to catch a quick read of the first chapter of Guardian part 1 on my Samsung Galaxy. It turns out here it has been six months since Kent defeated Darkseid, gave the people hope and thus purged the darkness out of everyone's hearts and saved the Earth from a cosmic threat of intergalactic proportions. Most characters draw their likeness to actors from the Smallville show such as Superman (Tom Welling), Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) and Chloe Sullivan-Queen (Allison Mack). So what can I say about this? Was this a great adaptation?

As far as I can tell, it was interesting. It's too early to judge the entire series as a whole but it was gratifying. The only problem I had with it was the pacing felt a bit rushed. However, it does set the stage of what to expect, for example, Kent no longer goes by The Blur and is now fully fledged in his Superman persona. Little is known of his work at the Daily Planet but I hear Kent still works the same floors down whereas Lois is promoted 8 floors up. I won't spoil the whole story, but it involves a rescue mission in space. Chloe and Oliver are enjoying their marriage and still at Watchtower. The suit that Kent wears from the New 52 is okay, but I like the Superman Returns inspired version better. The writing has done justice to each character's voices, which is what I would expect from having done Smallville and the art is really great.

I will be honest, I never really got into Superman's character, I grew up on the cartoon series and the Smallville TV show from way back in 2001 but only for the spectacle of it and nothing more. I more invested in the live action version than anything else. Only because Superman is too god-like and it is hard to care for someone too powerful. If I were to read any DC comic, it would be Batman but this one and some of it's material would convince me to buy it. I can't wait till the next chapter on April 20th and I'm waiting to see how they pull it off and who Superman will face from his rouges gallery, plus how it will fit this universe. I leave by saying kudos to the solid, encompassing, writing, excellent art but short and flat-nosed finish.

Next post is my Director's Cut,

Breakin' Da Rules (2011) Mix-tape

With the comic book series in production and the short animation micro-series of Nemesis the Hunter's Mark in development, it seems everything is flowing nicely. Spoke to a writer/business advisor last Thursday and she told me about managing your time and not feel overloaded, which is true. The problem is if I feel I'm not doing anything, I get bored and get lazy. Hardest to Survive has been met with hiccups but not as bad as The New Kid. I'm doing my best to get Jstaarz's project off the ground and I think I've found the right actor who is not a waste of time and money who may pull it off. As executive producer of this project, I can only do what I can. I got a person to speak to about today. The man behind Seventh Wonder Films, watch out for the feature film Blake starring Courtney Starr. I got a treat for you coming up this week.

The good news is college is almost over and I have handed in the majority of my work and did exams. So, it means more drinks for me :) and I get more free time. I'm also investing in two new cameras, Canon's, and try get my hands on a Sony Z1 or HD1. The film will start I think Principal Photography 3 days after the Captain America film is in cinemas. Okay, that aside, remember that tune I told you about on my graff status. Well Lil Dre is here to say that Ezee and Jstaarz shot a music video on the weekend and I got 2 scenes to do this week. A mix-tape Breakin' Da Rules will be coming out later on this year or probably early next year 2012!!! The official music video is in production and should enter post-production by the end of July. I got a flock of artists' in the underground I'm working with on this mix-tape.

Plans for the Future.

It's been 4 months since I revealed the upcoming comic series, Nemesis the Hunter's Mark, is being released this year. Now that you wait for that prolonged satisfaction, I'm here to reveal to you the future of my franchise and this blog site. T-Shirts have been considered since the early part of last year in the summer but is still being looked upon, of course, the e-book which is the prequel to this series is coming in the later months as well. The animation trailer is being opted for production with an unknown who goes by Courtney Starr in the lead. Story development is being discussed for this promotion and more actors should be underway plus the 3rd draft is going to be written, it sure is going to keep me busy in some of the Easter holidays coming up and my editor will pen another, new, final draft after my writing partner's revisions. If you have not seen it yet, my site is now up http://www.nemesisthehunter.co.uk/. This is where all will be able to buy the comics when it comes out.

LD Studios is beginning to establish itself on the media scene, I am partnering with the best people behind Frontier Ent. and Ezee Media to secure ventures into more different multimedia. Simultaneous with the production of Nemesis the Hunter's Mark and development of the other two projects, I have tweeted a new pilot Frontier is developing called The New Kid. Its a down to earth short written and directed by Jstaarz, about some newbie on the block getting bullied. I am co-writing, producing and starring in the pilot and the pilot will be at least 5 minutes long. What I can say about the script so far is that its something I always wanted to be a part of from the moment Jstaarz told me about it, I've read it and was good. I really like my character and he's someone I can relate to, his name is Kellerman/Killerman and he is odd, mysterious, but cool. Script needs a little tweaks here and there but we will be able to work it out and I am supporting this project all the way. Shooting begins in about two weeks, so druing Easter.

I will speak more about the future plans and more about The New Kid in my next post and will come up with a new video diary on Hardest to Survive next week.

Bye, fans

The New Website.

Nemesis the Hunter's Mark will release it's new website on the 31st March, at the moment it's still under construction and has not been updated yet. On the site, there are services as well as some multimedia you can observe. The services include video production, writing proposals, illustrations and T-shirt designs. Its supported by GBBO (Getting British Business Online) and is associated with Head for Business, L-D Studios, Frontier Entertainment and Ezee Media. It provides writers a chance to get their voices heard and their ideas enhanced. The site will be linked to this blog and any presentations will be referred on the blog but uploaded on that network. There, you will be able to make an order for the comic when it comes out soon this Spring 2011. Production is moving swift, I promise I will get back to the covers in due time. Also, pray for those who were lost in Japan in the Tsunami, its a terrible situation and I hope many down there are okay. I think I will do a campaign for them and give a tribute and show them to come out this dark time, maybe some Manga art. We must not take things for granted that we're still alive. The secret to life is to make up for things and enjoy yourself whenever you can in life.

I will be back with progress on the comic book,

Take care everyone,

The Nemesis issue 1

Fans, your commentator is here to bring you some much needed feedback on my forthcoming seven issue comic book series, Nemesis the Hunter's Mark. I am writing the story, braking it down in layouts and inking the pages while Julio Falkenhagen is doing his tight pencils, Kieron Boothe, graphic designer is doing colours and Rommel Fabian is lettering. Now that we got that clear and out of the way on who is credited on this piece, I will reveal the title of the first issue of this all new story arc. The issue will be called "The Fallen", a synopsis is posted below. Before I present you with all of my images down by a few artist's I would like to inform you a note: these pictures are the property of each artist, any information I give you maybe subject to change. Do not forward any links of this to anyone or to any third party without my permission.

Nemesis the Hunter's Mark#1

Part one of seven: The Fallen.

"Henry Jackson is haunted by nightmares and strange imaginings which pinpoint his deceased parents' situation the night they were killed in a fire in episodic flashbacks. Seven years earlier, he moved to Queens, New York with Uncle Phil and dated Maria Francisco whilst at Fordham University where he befriended Raphael Hagen and Ryan Mitchell, a rivalry developed between Jackson and Mitchell as Ryan fell in love with Maria, so much that he ends up doing one action that eventually causes a feud. Henry maybe forced to abandon his girlfriend and his life will never be the same again".

Well here are the images, these are preliminary sketches of the characters done by Julio and I with some concept art by Dean Richards who did the teaser cover of issue 1 above. Sadly, he does not have time to do other covers for many future issues, which is a shame, but there will be more cover art done by the whole creative team. Anyway, enough rambling, here are the pictures. Enjoy what you see:

That is all for now, I hope you enjoy the images. It took alot of teamwork and effort to produce somthing like this. Preview images of issue 1 will be released sometime this week, if you are a Facebook user, go on to a link for Facebook Groups and type in Nemesis the Hunter's Mark. Updates on the process will be made constantly each week. Invite your friends to join the social community and take part in any event that should arise, there will be nothing important coming up for now but a Press Release of the book has been in talks with interests and managers. I am about to start inking the magnificent Julio's art.

Thank you for your time

Nemesis the Hunter's update!!!

What's up everyone,

Here are some brief updates from me, Julio Falkenhagen (designer and co-artist) is half finished with pencils for issue 1 of the upcoming seven issue comic book series Nemesis the Hunter's Mark. It will not be long before I will be doing the inks, I can't wait. Plus I will be going over to a meeting sometime Monday to discuss about the pictures, but I promise these are really hyperactive stuff. I won't spoil too much of it, but the style relates to my art, very American comics/Japanese Manga feel to it. Released next Tuesday will be a teaser poster for issue 1, character sketches done by myself and Julio and some preview images. I will also release a synopsis for the first issue and brief summary of the overall storyline on that day. Issue 13 and 14 for Nemesis Dawn of a Legend has been handed to my editor, she is now going over the scripts. I apologise for the delay, for now I will just work on the other pictures.

Bye

New Updates!!

Fans, I'm here to discuss the situation with Nemesis Dawn of a Legend and other material that I plan to release by the end of this year. The cover art for issue 1 and 2 are nearly complete, they will come out sometime next week after issue 7 is released. I apologise for the wait, but issue 7 is going to be scheduled on 24th September 2010. This is due to a delay of edits on the script, at the moment, cover art for both issue 7 and 8 is now in thumbnails. However, the actual story in the comic book script has been written. Issue 8 will be posted on this blog with artwork next Friday on 1st October. Okay, that part is now cleared up.

I have received some confirmation for the auditions on The Hardest to Survive, of all leading roles and extras will be after September 29th 2010. As usual, the centre where the auditions is based is in The Albany, Douglas Way, Deptford, London SE8 4AG. I will let you know what times it will be, in fact, I should be having a meeting with them sometime tommorow. As for the T-Shirts, apparently, I'm going to have to find someone else to fund the promotion. I believe production will be shifted from the hands of my distributors who have been working on financing the product. The fact is I was hoping that the promotion would start at least in the summer, but since term is now autumn, they have not been very reliable. This means I am cutting a few ties with those who were supposed to fund the project and going to someone else. I am having meetings in order go forward so T-Shirts promotion and the film is still given the go ahead, it will just take some time.

Apart from that, I have sent Jstaarz more pictures for the flash animation, which should be right on it's way. I have also given him some mp3 files with the soundtrack. More pictures will be added with the Bios page as soon as possible. Hope you all settled down this Autumn and Kbon is working on the review for Prototype the game real soon over at Kbon Reviews.

Later everyone

It's a new day!!

Yes it's a new day,

A few of you have engaged in the roles that will be shown in my short film, The Hardest to Survive, but there maybe another seperate audition that can take place in the next few weeks. The first audition is about to happen on Wednesday 11th August 2010. I will let you know how the auditions went and when the next one is. I told you about some animation I'm working on last time and I've half done the storyboards for that for the first episode, but let me tell you this: storyboards for animation is different to storyboards for live action. I won't get into the details, but it's hard work cause your dealing with creating a world your characters live in.

I just did re-writes for the scripts of the Nemesis Dawn of a Legend comic and did thumbnails for the first two issues of cover art for #1,#2 and did issue 5 and 6. I will start pencilling and inking my latest ones for you, which is going to be released on 13th and 20th August. Don't forget, the promotions of both my film and comic are still going up, Jstaarz and Mathu Ezee are sorting out all the printing of the T-Shirts as we speak and discussed selling them online. I will let you know more about how it's going later, but remember the four steps I told you in order to get them. Anyway, as I said before let me know what you like about them and just stay tuned for the comic books I put out and the merchandise. Kbon might be doing a review on his site for that Predators film remake or the Prototype game, so go check that out on http://www.kbonreviews.blogspot.com/. I'll be back soon.

See yah,
