Episode Two: Open Wounds.

Hey everyone, the script is here. From now on, I will be sending in cover art for the scripts as well because lets face it I mean art is what gives you the most imagination and fills in the blanks. Issue 3 of Nemesis Dawn of a Legend is due 2nd July 2010.

NEMESIS DAWN OF A LEGEND#2

By

Andre Farquharson

Forthcoming part 2 of 4
“Open Wounds”

Revised Draft
June 4th 2010

PAGE ONE (1 Panel)

1. Continuing from last issue, HENRY now stands facing the BRAZILIAN PRISON GUARDS. His shirt torn where bullets have been, blood dries. The man heals completely although the guards open fire at the same time. He regenerates every flesh wound even parts of his face. HENRY charges toward all of them, but there is something not quite right as he transforms, muscles inflate and swell, veins grow exposed, the eyes glare with green-black colours, envious.

CAPTION
(Language in Portuguese.)

STOCKY GUARD 1
(This is not right.)

LEADER
(Kill him!)

STOCKY GUARD 2
(Whoo, it wasn't my idea!)

PAGE TWO (5 Panels)
1. HENRY does not respond. He leaps upon the GUARDS like a caged animal unleashed. LEADER covers his upper body and face with the rifle in both hands, defending himself. The other two make a barrier that serves to block their attacker from reaching out to their officer but he is way too fast, majestically so.

2. The beast that was once a normal man performs a mid-air kick in the face of GUARD 1. GUARD 2 moves in but misses’ fire while their LEADER barks down orders. As this is going on, HENRY starts to grow larger in height. He continues mutating into something beyond human.

STOCKY GUARD 1
(Sh--! ACK!)

STOCKY GUARD 2
(Get out my way!)

HENRY
Don't bother.

3. HENRY butts the weapon GUARD 2 is holding in both of his hands and shoves it in his stomach. Henry then smacks the guard's head so hard towards us; we realize his neck comes off its socket. The LEADER, who is in the background, grunts and he finally sees the chance in taking out his wild prisoner on the loose.

STOCKY GUARD 2
(UGH! Pest! AH!)

4. The lead guard fires, the blast ignites the whole screen. He reels in his shot gun, pointing it upwards. Smoke bellows as the used shell pops out from the barrel. All of this is in a head and shoulder's shot.

LEADER
(Got him! Die!)

5. Shot in the ribs, the wound gushes with blood, but despite this it does not even faze Henry. He runs after the shooter and lands a nasty hay maker to the side of the head, smashing his skull. Henry screams with an insane howl, wanting his pursuer to die, so he punches the guard more.

HENRY
I wish I knew what you said before; I'd love to hear you cry! AHHHHHHHH!

PAGE THREE (1 Panel)
1. Henry returns back to his normal self, he shrinks back to his average size, muscles elongate, the vein recede on the skin plus his eyes now become dark brown. He looks at the hands, stained with blood. Around him, dead bodies circle him in the midst of this forest. He is no longer a victim but a predator, in this entire time, he tries being aware of his surroundings as he walks away from it, stunned by all of this.

PAGE FOUR (4 Panels)
1. Cut to the slums of south eastern Brazil, seen from our highest point in location. Almost as if a photographer has taken this magnificent shot. Here, there are small favela's that populate the area with places that have greenery. In stark contrast of this murky, slapdash, home for towns, a larger, clean, more arranged capital stands in the background.

CAPTION
Six months later: Sao Paulo, Brazil.

2. Sitting on the steps near a run down market is Henry, shrunken, with his hand beneath his cheek. A GROWN MAN IN SANDALS passes by the staircase. No one invests anything with him, like he is not even there.

HENRY/CAP
I need... some food. I hate this job I’m doing. I just need something to blank it all. It's been so long... I broke out... don't know how, but I did.

HENRY/CAP
I frickin' jumped over a wall... so high. Next thing I know - I black out and find three dead bodies.

3. A while later he sees the same man who passed him and gets paid. Henry shakes the man and takes his money.

HENRY/CAP
Not sure I'm an alien or what - a killer. All I know is I keep havin' these blackouts and someone winds up dead. Now I've got dis taken care of I can get a place to live.

4. Cut outside the glass window at a flat we see Henry again. Close up on his face, his palm touches the pane, solemn, alone. The sun is bright as day, but he does not shine with it. Both his lips are breaking away; he has not eaten for a while.

HENRY/CAP
Bein' a snitch hasn't served much. Well it got me a new apartment but the pay is shit. It never came to me I'd be rattin' out tah people, it's not me. I guess it pays fer ah livin', I suppose. Wait!

PAGE FIVE (6 Panels)
1. Over the shoulder of Henry, down on the streets below, we see a very attractive HISPANIC WOMAN arguing with her LANDLORD. Her name is called AMANDA. The landlord is a bald, skinny, man, 44, with a vest and short Hawaiian shirt.

AMANDA
(I paid your rent, old man.)

LANDLORD
(That was last week's!)

AMANDA
(Well, I'll pay your shit another time.)

2. Closer on AMANDA, we see how really stunning she is, even under frustration. Her eyes, amber brown, sparkle at sundown, one of them narrows over to us in profile.

LANDLORD
(o.p)
(No! Either pay up or live on the street for all I care!)

AMANDA
(I don't have any money right now.)

HENRY/CAP
That girl, she looks familiar. I swear I know her before.

3. FLASHBACK: same type of shot, except the woman has different style hair. This person has the similar chipper face as before though, her name is MARIA. Someone you will meet later.

4. The LANDLORD touches AMANDA with his rather, bony fingers. She pushes him off but for a skinny guy he is quite strong. His face brightens from the tenderness of her skin.

LANDLORD
(Tough luck, guess you're out.)

AMANDA
(Give me a chance, I'll pay you.)

LANDLORD
(Linked)
(You can pay me in another way.)

AMANDA
(Linked)
(Get off me!)

LANDLORD
(Linked)
(By convincing me not to just treat you like the bitch you are, pretty face.)

5. Suddenly, Henry comes in with a lightning axe kick into the landlord's face, whose neck comes backward, stunning him. Amanda quickly removes herself away from this attack in awe.

LANDLORD
EH!

HENRY
Move it, lady!

AMANDA
My God.

6. Henry takes Amanda inside the apartment while the landlord tries his best to get up, but he cannot. The couples are now the primary focus as they go up the staircase and talk in front of us.

AMANDA
(Thank you, but who are you?)

HENRY
Sorry, I'm not well into the language but I can draw a sentence or two.

AMANDA
(Not well, language? Sorry I don't know what you're talking about.)

HENRY
(Linked)
(I'm not sure who I am, but you may call me Lenny.)

AMANDA
(Linked)
(Like, uh Lenny Henry?)

HENRY
(Kind of.)

PAGE SIX (5 Panels)
1. Later on, Amanda shows Henry her apartment in a small room. The place is tidy, wooden statues are placed on furniture plus some paintings lay on the wall. On the bed are sawdust's on paper, it is clear she is a sculptor and painter, or at least an expressionist for art.

AMANDA
(This is my place; it's not much but...)

HENRY
(Did you do these?)

AMANDA
(Yes, I'm trying to raise money to pay rent.)

HENRY
(That's why that guy had something on you.)

2. Medium shot. Both of them sit down together on chairs, facing each other. As they talk, Henry listens to her story.

AMANDA
(Yes, he's a creep. He thinks he can do bad stuff and get away with it. I want to get out of here, sell art in galleries and head for the city. I will get to see my cousin, again.)

AMANDA
(Linked)
(Earlier, you said you weren't sure who you are, why's that?)

3. Henry speaks calmly but is in angst, though he is not nervous, he looks toward us and rubs against his forehead.

HENRY
I can't remember.

4. As Henry explains his memory loss, Amanda reaches for he's big hand, sympathetic. She comforts him with her soft, growing hair.

AMANDA
(Can you remember anything?)

HENRY
(I can remember some, but not all. I know that I was adopted by my uncle when my parents died and I... studied...)

AMANDA
(Anything else, do you remember what happened?)

HENRY
(Uh... no. All I know is I was on death row, I don't know what I did.)

4. Amanda withdraws from Henry's hand at those words, she cannot believe it. At the same time, she does show concern when her eyebrows rise and how she puts her hand on her chest.

AMANDA
(Seriously?)

HENRY
(Yeah, but I don't know what I did. I just want to find out-- I need to-- it's so crazy that I--)

AMANDA
(Look, don't worry. We'll find out. Together.)

PAGE SEVEN (4 Panels)
1. Cut to Henry and Amanda in a park somewhere with ice-creams, they play fight with their cones. Amanda uses her strawberry on his chin while her boyfriend tugs at her arm.

HENRY/CAP
Amanda was nice to be with, she was caring and understood me. She's the first girl I'd ever call a lover. I went to a park just like this one with someone before.

2. New scene. On a bench, they sit and stare as Henry sees the hand that he raises start to envelop in green flames, which breaks in the air to form a ball of energy that rises from the palm of his hand. Amanda looks on in concern, but smiles, impressed.

AMANDA
(How did you do that?)

HENRY
(I'm not sure.)

HENRY/CAP
Even things we don't know about, she's willing to find out with me. This power I have scared me, it's like I'm just connected to the world around me but it makes quick work with my brain at the same time.

3. Cut inside the apartment, a bed appears in the room. Clothes are thrown all over the place, lingerie on the spread and jeans on the floor. A woman's feet come out of the covers in motion. The whole speech is now in English.

AMANDA
Oh, Lenny...

HENRY
Yeah.

AMANDA
Tell me you want me.

HENRY
I do.

4. On the bed, Amanda is on top of Henry and we see parts of her breasts wrapped in the sheets. For the first time, she attempts to speak a bit of rough English. She becomes aroused by his touch he makes against her smooth skin.

HENRY
Great, you're learning' well. Pretty soon you'll be mistaken fer a tourist.

AMANDA
Do you still want to find out who you are?

HENRY
Yes, I want to find out. I want you to be with me. Can you do that?

PAGE EIGHT (5 Panels)
1. Amanda utters her last words as she coughs up blood. Henry puts a hand across her face as she keels over from the cold shiver down her spine and millimetre hole through her stomach.

AMANDA
But can't you stay--

HENRY
Amanda, what's wrong?

AMANDA
I... I'm sorry...

2. Henry carries Amanda in her arms as some BRAZILIAN FEDERAL OFFICERS burst in on the left side of the room, armed. The lead is a FEMALE OFFICER who stands in front.

CAPTION
(Language in Portuguese.)

FEMALE OFFICER
(Henry, put the woman down and get off the bed with your hands up!)

3. Jumping up in the conflict, Henry is no longer his old self anymore. He thrusts both hands in the air. The same green mist extends from both hands and he sends two officers against some nails on the wall. FEMALE OFFICER cocks out a handgun but gets carried away by the force.

4. Henry drops the woman and then pins her left hand, twisting her arm round at the back. He forces some answers out of her.

HENRY
What do you want?

FEMALE OFFICER
EIIII! I want you dead.

HENRY
(Linked)
Don't make me say this twice.

FEMALE OFFICER
(Linked)
Ergh, you're a fugitive.

HENRY
Who's Henry? How'd you find me?

FEMALE OFFICER
You are... we... we spotted you.

HENRY
(Linked)
How I know it's true?

FEMALE OFFICER
(Linked)
It is...that's your name... Henry Jackson, Special Forces, captain of the United States Marine Corps.

5. The woman gets released, just as she does; she quickly points another hand gun taken out from her waistband. Even so, Henry already has made a run for it.

HENRY
(o.p)
Don't look for me, you'll regret it!

FEMALE OFFICER
That so -- ahh -- shit!

To be continued...
